It was numerically the most important US tank destroyer of WW2 and combined a reasonably potent anti-tank weapon with a turreted platform. Despite the introduction of more-powerful types as replacements, it remained in service until the end of the war. A total of 6,706 were built between 1942 & 1943.
The British converted some M10s to use their successful 17-pounder (76 mm) anti-tank gun, which they designated as “17pdr SP Achilles”. The turret needed modification to take the longer gun. The 17-pounder was of a similar bore, but longer and using a larger propellant charge had far superior armour penetration capability. It was used by the British, Canadian, and Polish armies in Italy and northwest Europe. About 1,110 were built.
The M36 Tank Destroyer (nickname “Jackson”) was essentially an up-gunned M10 tank destroyer, replacing the former’s 3 inch (76.2mm) M7 Gun with a powerful 90mm gun. The M36 first served in combat in Europe in September 1944, where it proved to be a match for any of the tanks being fielded by the Germans. About 1,400 M36s were produced during the war. The need for 90 mm gunned tank destroyers was so urgent that, during October to December 1944, 187 conversions of standard M4A3 hulls were produced; these vehicles, designated M36B1, were rushed to the European Theatre of Operations and used in combat alongside standard M36s.
The M36 also saw use in the Korean War, able to defeat any of the Soviet tanks used in that conflict. Some were supplied to the Koreans as part of the Military Assistance Program and served for years, as did retrofit examples found in Yugoslavia, which operated into the 1990s. The main improvements were a revised hull with larger hatches, redesigned ammunition stowage to reduce the likelihood of the tank burning when penetrated, and a simplified glacis angled at 47 degrees. In addition to the standard 75mm gun-armed version, a version armed with a 76mm gun was also built. Designated M4A3(76mm)W (“W” = wet stowage), this utilised a larger turret originally intended for the aborted T23 medium tank. The M1A1 76mm gun was rushed into service in July 1944 because the 75mm gun was found to be inadequate against the latest German tanks, but its anti-tank performance proved to be mediocre (at least until an HVAP projectile became available in 1945).

The M4A3(76mm)W began to enter service in September 1944. 1,400 were built. Early production vehicles had a round loader’s hatch and (due to production delays) lacked a muzzle brake. Later vehicles had an oval loader’s hatch and a muzzle brake. The harsh weather conditions in late 1944 revealed the shortcomings of the Sherman’s narrow (16.5 inch) tracks, and as a stop-gap solution extended end-connectors (known as “duckbills”) were fitted to improve flotation in muddy terrain. In the meantime, a horizontal volute suspension system (HVSS) with wider (23 inch) tracks had been developed, with greatly enhanced cross-country performance. Usually known as the M4A3E8 (although this was not its official designation), 3,142 of this final version of the Sherman were built. It first entered service during the Ardennes Offensive in December 1944.

While rugged and dependable, the M4A3E8 was too thinly armoured, and many crews attempted to improve its survivability by adding sandbags or scavenged armour plate. Despite its shortcomings, the M4A3E8 remained in US Army service through the Korean War, where it faced the Soviet-built T-34/85. It is also one of the first military vehicles mass-produced in the US. It is the culmination of war-time ingenuity, standardization and strategic personalization for transport of personnel and cargo. Soon to become the ubiquitous, “world-famous” jeep, the Willys MB and Ford GPW models were very effective on the ground, with many standardized features such as 6.00x16 tires, 60 horsepower at 4,000 rpm, a gasoline can bracket on the left rear, provisions for trailer lights, spark interference suppression, a blackout light system, twin top bows and sealed spring shackles. During WW2, Ford produced some 280,000 of these vehicles. A total of 361,339 (between Nov 18, 41 and Sep 21, 45) were built.

Kit Highlights:
- Single 1/56 (28mm) scale plastic sprue
- Foldable windshield with canvas wrap option
- Optional tarpaulin canvas top
- Include Browning M1919 & M2 MG options
- Four US Infantrymen figures included

Number of Parts: 69 pieces / 1 sprue + 2 multi-slide parts + 2 figure sprues

Plastic kit, supplied unassembled and unpainted.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0501/4188/8682/files/rubicon-models-us-willys-mb-14-ton-4x4-jeep-gap-games.jpg?v=1775032604
copy-of-rubicon-models-us-willys-mb-1-4-ton-4x4-jeep
Rubicon Models - M4A2 Sherman / Sherman MK III Medium Tank

Rubicon Models - M4A2 Sherman/Sherman III
The M4A2 Sherman used a welded hull nearly identical to the M4, but with a pair of vented armoured grates on the rear hull deck. It was withdrawn in 1951 in favor of its improved derivative, the M46 Patton, which had a more powerful and reliable engine and advanced suspension. Earlier Soviet self-propelled guns were meant to serve as either assault guns, such as the SU-122, or as tank destroyers; the SU-85 fell into the latter category. The designation “85” signifies the bore of the vehicle’s armament, the 85mm D-5S gun. The SU-85 entered production in mid-1943, with the first vehicles reaching their units by August. When the up-gunned T-34/85 medium tank entered mass production in the spring of 1944, there was no point in continuing production of a tank destroyer without superior firepower, so SU-85 production was stopped in late 1944 after 2,050 vehicles had been produced.

This kit contains;

- Options to build either a SU-122 or SU-85

- Open hatches & elevating gun

- Optional fuel cans

Number of Parts: 59 pieces / 3 sprues

Pease note: this kit contains ONE vehicle that can be built as either the SU-85 or SU-122

Note: Models supplied unassembled and unpainted

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0501/4188/8682/files/rubicon-models-su-85-or-su-122-self-propelled-gun-gap-games-1.jpg?v=1775032797
rubicon-models-bm-13-katyusha-multiple-rocket-launcher
Rubicon Models - BM-13 Katyusha Multiple Rocket Launchers

The BM series of multiple rocket launchers was employed by the Soviet Union in World War II. They could deliver a barrage more quickly than conventional artillery, but were less accurate and took longer to reload. They were also relatively cheap and easy to produce. However, they were vulnerable to counter-battery fire due to the large amount of smoke and dust generated when they were fired, which gave away their position.
The Katyusha was greatly feared by German infantry. A battery of four BM-13 launchers could fire a salvo in 7–10 seconds that delivered 4.35 tons of high explosives over a 400,000-square-metre (4,300,000-sq-ft) impact zone, an effect roughly equivalent to that of 72 conventional guns. Katyusha batteries were often massed in very large numbers, with devastating effect. The distinctive howl of the rockets added to the psychological impact of the weapon. The Germans nicknamed the Katyusha “Stalinorgel” (“Stalin’s organ”), because of the launcher’s supposed resemblance to a church organ.
This highly detailed plastic kit depicts a BM-13N Katyusha, comprising a Studebaker US6 6x6 truck with a rotating and elevating rocket launcher.
Product Highlights:
- Single piece truck cabin
- Rotating & elevating rocket launcher
- Truck can be assembled without the launcher
- Driver figure included

Unpainted plastic kit, assembly required.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0501/4188/8682/files/rubicon-models-bm-13-katyusha-multiple-rocket-launcher-gap-games.jpg?v=1775032797
rubicon-models-us6-u3-u4-2-5-ton-6x6-truck
Rubicon Models - US6 U3/U4 2.5 ton 6x6 Truck

The Studebaker US6 2½ ton 6x6 truck was part of a family of trucks produced in the US during World War II. The 6x6 version was intended to operate off-road, and was produced in both short (148 inch) wheelbase and long (162 inch) wheelbase versions. The 6x6 version was rated to carry up to 2½ tons, while the 6x4 version could carry up to 5 tons but was limited to roads. Most were built with an enclosed metal cabin.A total of 219,882 2½ ton 6x6 and 5 ton 6x4 trucks in thirteen variations were built. Of the total produced, 152,000 (including all of the 6x6 production) were sent to the USSR, where the Studebaker’s reliability and durability made it very popular. It was known as “Studer” to the Soviet troops, and was used for transporting troops and supplies and (due to its off-road capability) as a gun tractor. The basic BA-10 design was developed from the BA-3 and BA-6 heavy armored cars. It had an improved GAZ-AAA chassis and improved armor. Like its predecessors, the BA-10 could be converted to a half-track by fitting auxiliary tracks to the rear pair of dual tandem wheels. These tracks were often fitted when the vehicle needed to move across snow or soft ground.

The BA-10 first saw action against the Japanese in Manchuria at the Battle of Khalkhin Gol in 1939. Some were captured and later used by the Manchukuo. It was involved in all the Soviet Union’s subsequent military operations and campaigns of 1939-1940. During World War II the BA-10 was used against the Germans on the Eastern Front, but was rarely seen after the winter of 1941–42. Later in the war the heavy scouting role was taken over by light tanks such as the T-60 and T-70. A few BA-10s were seen as late as 1943 on the Leningrad front. Large numbers of captured BA-10s were used by Axis powers in Europe. In May 1945 a few BA-10s of ROA fought alongside the defenders of the Prague uprising. The BA-10 was in Red Army service until 1945.

Product Highlight:
- Comes with open or closed turret hatches
- One piece chassis for easy assembly
- Optional auxiliary “overall” tracks

Product Code: 280085
Number of Parts: 50 pieces / 1 sprue + 1 cab body + 1 turret

Plastic Kit - ABS Cement Required

Miniatures supplied unassembled and unpainted.

Rubicon Models - Panther Ausf. The official German designation was Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger Ausf.E, often shortened to Tiger. It was an answer to the unexpectedly impressive Soviet armour encountered in the initial months of the Axis invasion of the Soviet Union, particularly the T-34 and the KV-1. The Tiger I gave the Wehrmacht its first tank mounting the 88mm gun in its first armoured fighting vehicle-dedicated version: the KwK 36. During the course of the war, the Tiger I saw combat on all German battlefronts.
While the Tiger I was feared by many of its opponents, it was over-engineered, using expensive materials and labour intensive production methods. Only 1,347 were built between August 1942 and August 1944. The Tiger was prone to certain types of track failures and immobilizations, and limited in range by its high fuel consumption. It was expensive to maintain, but generally mechanically reliable. It was also difficult to transport, and vulnerable to immobilization when mud, ice and snow froze between its overlapping and interleaved road wheels in winter weather conditions, often jamming them solid. In 1944, production was phased out in favour of the Tiger II.
With this kit, you can build all three (early, mid, and late war) versions of the Tiger I tank. It comes with three turret tops, optional Feifel air cleaners, and two different sets of road wheels.

Number of Parts: 68 pieces / 4 sprues

Note: Model supplied unassembled and unpainted

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0501/4188/8682/files/rubicon-models-tiger-i-ausf-e-gap-games.jpg?v=1775033160
rubicon-models-sdkfz-251-ausf-d-3-in-1
Rubicon Models - SdKfz 251/1 Ausf D AFV 3-IN-1 Set

The SdKfz 251 (Sonderkraftfahrzeug 251) half-track was an armored fighting vehicle designed and first built by the Hanomag Company during World War II. SdKfz 251s were the most widely produced German half-tracks of the war, with at least 15,252 vehicles and variants produced by various manufacturers, and were commonly referred to simply as “Hanomags” by both German and Allied soldiers.

There were four main model modifications (Ausführung A through D), which formed the basis for at least 22 variants. The initial idea was for a vehicle that could be used to transport a single squad of panzergrenadiers to the battlefield protected from enemy small arms fire, and with some protection from artillery fire. In addition, the standard mounting of at least one MG34 or MG42 machine gun allowed the vehicle to provide support by fire for the infantry squad once they had disembarked in battle.

Variants were produced for specialized purposes, including with anti-aircraft guns, light howitzers, anti-tank guns and mortars or even large unguided artillery rockets.

From early 1943, the D model was developed with the purpose of halving the number of angled body plates, simplifying the design and thus speeding up the production. Although spin stabilized, the rockets were not as accurate as conventional artillery and reloading was time consuming due to the rocket’s weight. It was intended to be more cost-effective than the much more ambitious Jagdpanther and Jagdtiger designs of the same period. Using a proven chassis, it avoided the mechanical problems of the larger armoured vehicles.
It was better armoured than the thinly armoured earlier Panzerjäger Marder and Nashorn with a sloped armour front plate of 60 mm sloped back at 60 degrees from the vertical (equivalent in protection to about 120 mm), carried a reasonably powerful 75mm gun, was mechanically reliable, small and easily concealed. It was also cheap to build. The Jagdpanzer 38(t) succeeded the open-top Marder III (based on the same chassis) in production from April 1944; about 2,584 were built until the end of the war.
The Jagdpanzer 38(t) fit into the lighter category of German tank destroyers that began with the Panzerjäger I, continued with the Marder series and ended with the Jagdpanzer 38(t). The 75 mm PaK 39 L/48 gun of the Jagdpanzer 38(t) was a modified version of the 75 mm StuK 40 L/48 used in the StuG III and StuG IV assault guns. With this gun the Jagdpanzer 38(t) was able to destroy nearly all Allied or Soviet tank types in service at long ranges (except heavy tanks) and its fully enclosed armour protection made it a safer vehicle to crew than the open-topped Marder II or Marder III series.
The Jagdpanzer 38(t) was one of the most common late-war German tank destroyers. It was the main anti-tank weapon of Wehrmacht infantry units until mid-1941.
During the May 1940 Western Campaign, the PaK 36, being a relatively small-calibre weapon, was found to be inadequate against heavy Allied tanks. Still, the gun was effective against the most common light tanks of the era.
The addition of tungsten-core shells (Pzgr 40) slightly improved the armour penetration of the PaK 36, enabling it to finally damage the T-34, but only via a direct shot to the rear or side armour from point-blank range. Despite its continued impotence against the T-34, it remained the standard anti-tank weapon for many units until 1942. The advantages of the PaK 36 were its; relative ease of handling and mobility (it could be brought into action very rapidly by as few as two men since it weighed only 432 kg); good quality optics/aiming devices; ease of concealment due to its small size; and high rate of fire.
The PaK 36 began to be replaced by the new 5cm PaK 38 in mid-1941. As it was gradually replaced, many were removed from their carriages and added to SdKfz 251 halftracks for use as light anti-armour support. The PaK 36 also served with the armies of Italy, Finland, Hungary, and Slovakia.
Although the PaK 36 quickly became ineffectual in the European and Russian theatres, in China the gun was still viable as an effective anti-tank gun. It could destroy the Japanese tanks, since their armour protection was quite weak. For example, during the Battle of Tai'erzhuang, Chinese PaK 36s destroyed a good number of Japanese tanks.
In 1943, the introduction of the Stielgranate 41 shaped charge meant that the PaK 36 could now penetrate most armour, although the low velocity of the projectile limited its range. The PaK 36s, together with the new shaped charges, was issued to Fallschirmjäger units and other lightly equipped troops. The gun's low weight meant that it could be easily moved by hand, and this mobility made it ideal for their purpose.

Product Highlights:

- Includes 1 x standalone and 1 x vehicle-mounted PaK 36

- Includes both full & half shields plus mounting plates for all SdKfz 250/251 variants

- Front lower armour plate in operating or transport mode

- Movable trails & rotating gun

- Includes Stielgranate 41 shaped charge

- Includes shells and ammo boxes

- 5 gun crew in early war uniform included

Number of Parts: 60 pieces / 1 sprue + 2 figure sprues

Note: Models supplied unassembled and unpainted

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0501/4188/8682/files/280057_PaK_36_AT_Gun_with_Crew_170922-1_2048x2048_dcf72b06-4257-4485-950c-86dc8ecc7cfc.jpg?v=1761044937
rubicon-models-german-pak-38-pak-97-38-anti-tank-gun-crew
Rubicon Models - German Pak 38/PaK 97/38 Anti Tank Gun + Crew

Rubicon Models - German Pak 38/PaK 97/38 Anti Tank Gun + Crew

- Options to build either a PaK 38 or PaK 97/38
- Front lower armour plate in operating or transport mode
- Movable trails & rotating gun
- Includes shells and ammo boxes
- 5 gun crew in mid-war uniform included

1 sprue + 2 figure sprues, assembly required. When the Germans faced Soviet tanks in 1941 during Operation Barbarossa, the PaK 38 was one of the few early guns capable of penetrating the 45mm (1.8 in) armour of the T-34. The gun was also equipped with Panzergranate 40 APCR shots with a hard tungsten core, in an attempt to penetrate the armour of the heavier KV-1 tank. It remained in service with the Wehrmacht until the end of the war. Soon after the German invasion of the USSR in 1941, Wehrmacht units encountered new Soviet tanks, the medium T-34 and the heavy KV. The thick sloped armour of these vehicles gave them invulnerability against German towed 3.7cm PaK 36 anti-tank guns. The situation led to requests for more powerful weapons that would be able to destroy them at normal combat ranges.
Even though Germany already had a suitable design, the 7.5cm PaK 40, this weapon entered production and the first pieces were delivered in November 1941. However, until enough of these were manufactured, some expedient solution was required. In its original configuration, the French guns were ill-suited for the anti-tank role. It was decided to solve the traverse and mobility problems by mounting the 7.5cm barrel on the modern split trail carriage of the 5cm PaK 38 anti-tank gun. To soften the recoil, the barrel was fitted with a large Swiss Solothurn muzzle brake. The gun was primarily intended to use HEAT shells as the armour penetration of this type of ammunition does not depend on velocity.
The 7.5cm PaK 97/38 reached the battlefield in the summer of 1942. Based heavily on the Volkswagen Beetle, it was prototyped as the Type 62, but eventually became known internally as the Type 82.
Kübelwagen is an abbreviation of Kübelsitzwagen, meaning “bucket-seat car” because all German light military vehicles that had no doors were fitted with bucket seats to prevent passengers from falling out. The first VW test vehicles had no doors and were therefore fitted with bucket seats, so acquiring the name VW Kübelsitzwagen that was later shortened to Kübelwagen. Mercedes, Opel and Tatra also built Kübel(sitz)wagens.
The Kübelwagen is really simple in design. With a two-wheel-drive configuration, it could easily cope with snow, ice and mud (to some extent); the vehicle surprised even those in charge of the development. In some test, it showed even superior handling characteristics than some 4x4s. This was due to a combination of a lightweight chassis and smooth, flat underbody which “surfed” on soft surfaces just like a motorized sled, allowing it to follow tracked vehicles without much trouble. It was propelled by a rear-mounted air-cooled flat-4, 985cc FMCV-1 engine, linked to a 4-speed manual transmission with a self-locking differential. With its air-cooled configuration, it was dispensed a radiator and therefore proved less sensitive to bullets, while being also highly tolerant of climates extremes. For starting in winter, a volatile fuel was required, stored in a small auxiliary fuel tank.
When Volkswagen production ceased at the end of the war, 50,435 Kübelwagen vehicles had been produced, and the vehicle had proven itself to be surprisingly useful, reliable, and durable.

Product Highlights:
- 2 types of tyres for both North African and European Campaigns
- Two headlight options included
- Optional fold-down windshield with canvas cover
- Extra door parts for open door conversion included
- Driver with 2 head options included

Note: Models supplied unassembled and unpainted

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0501/4188/8682/files/rubicon-models-kubelwagen-type-82-gap-games.jpg?v=1775033187
rubicon-models-jagdpanther-g1-g2
Rubicon Models -Jagdpanther G1 / G2 Tank Destroyer

Jagdpanther G1 / G2

Tank Destroyer

The SdKfz 173 Jagdpanther “hunting panther” was a tank destroyer built by the German army during World War II based on the chassis of the Panther tank. It was developed in 1944 as a successor to the earlier Möbelwagen self-propelled anti-aircraft gun.

In the first years of World War II, the German military forces had less interest in developing self-propelled anti-aircraft guns, but as the Allies began to gain air superiority the need for more mobile and better-armed self-propelled anti-aircraft guns increased. During the early summer of 1944 SS-Hauptsturmführer Karl Wilhelm Krause with the 12th SS Panzer Division Hitlerjugend came up with the concept of the Flakpanzer IV Wirbelwind. He presented the concept to SS-Obersturmbannführer Max Wünsche, commanding officer of the 12th SS Panzer Regiment and it was approved by Adolf Hitler.

The Panzer IV’s turret was removed and replaced with an open-top nine-sided turret that housed a quad-barrel 2cm Flakvierling 38. A closed-top design would have been preferable, but this was not possible due to the heavy smoke generated by the four anti-aircraft guns. The shape of the turret earned it the nickname Keksdose (“Biscuit Tin”). Production of the tank was carried out by Ostbau Werke in Sagan, Silesia. However in combat the 2cm shells were felt to be insufficiently effective against aircraft and so a more powerful successor was produced which eventually replaced it. Known as the Flakpanzer IV “Ostwind” (East Wind), the successor was equipped with a single 3.7cm Flak 43.

The combination of armor and rapid fire from the four guns of the Wirbelwind made it very effective against lightly armoured ground targets such as trucks and armored cars; infantry were particularly vulnerable.

Between 87 and 105 Wirbelwinds were converted from repaired Panzer IV chassis, but due to discrepancies between the recorded production numbers at Ostbau Werke and Wehrmacht service records, the exact number may never be known.

Product Highlights:
- Two fixed gun elevation angles (0° or 40°)
- Two gun barrel choices for modelers & gamers
- All hatches can be open or closed
- Extra stowage options included
- Four gun crew figures included

Product Code: 280079
Number of Parts: 213 pieces / 7 sprues

Plastic Kit - ABS Cement Required

Miniatures supplied unassembled and unpainted.

Product Highlights:
- Detailed interior
- Rear propellor in stowed or in use position
- Fold-down windshield
- Optional side-mounted MG34 or MG42
- Driver included

Note: Models supplied unassembled and unpainted

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0501/4188/8682/files/rubicon-models-schwimmwagen-type-166-gap-games.jpg?v=1775033196
rubicon-models-krupp-protze-kfz-69-70-6x4-truck
Rubicon Models - 6x4 Truck Krupp Protze Artillery Tractor / Utility Truck

Product Highlights:
- Can be built as a Kfz 69 artillery tractor or Kfz 70 troop transport
- Open or closed tailgate (Kfz 70)
- Optional tarpaulin top (for Kfz 70)
- Open or closed rear canvas
- Driver in heer uniform included

Note: Models supplied unassembled and unpainted

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0501/4188/8682/files/rubicon-models-krupp-protze-kfz-6970-6x4-truck-gap-games.jpg?v=1775033200
rubicon-models-panzer-iii-ausf-e-f-g
Rubicon Models - Panzer III Ausf E / F / G Medium Tank

The Panzerkampfwagen III (SdKfz 141), commonly known as the Panzer III, was a medium tank developed in the 1930s by Germany, and was used extensively in WW2. The first Ausf G tanks were armed with 3.7cm KwK L/46.5 guns. Some took part in the invasion of Holland, Belgium and France in May 1940. After experience during the Battle of France, some were upgraded with a 5cm KwK 38 L/42 gun. They were used on the Eastern Front and in North Africa. Rear turret stowage boxes were sometimes fitted later.

Product Highlights:
- Option to build an Ausf E, F or G variant
- Open or closed command & crew hatches
- Tank crew figures included
Number of Parts: 143 pieces / 4 sprues. Production of the Panzer III ceased in 1943.

The Panzerbefehlswagen III command tanks were converted from all versions after the Ausf E (roughly one for twelve.) they were characterized by powerful radios and a new redesigned, roomier turret interior. In early production, it featured a dummy main gun which resembled a 3.7cm gun, and later with a mock 5cm gun instead. The turret was bolted in place and had a distinctive frame antenna on the rear deck.
The Ausf J was the first in the series of command tanks based on the Panzer III to retain the tank’s 5cm KwK L/42 main gun. The lack of anything more potent than a machine gun had been a major drawback in the earlier models. The frame antenna was replaced with a set of star-shaped antenna on the rear engine deck.
